Services
The BME mission is to provide our members with communication and information services which will promote safe, secure, efficient and environmentally sound maritime operations.
We are committed to serving as the “Trusted Agent” of the port community; working cooperatively with Federal, State and Local agencies, steamship agents, terminal operators, pilots, tug companies, stevedores, and numerous service providers to develop and disseminate accurate and timely information on vessel activity in the Port of Baltimore. On a national scale, the BME is a member of MISNA, the Maritime Information Service of North America, an association of fourteen Marine Exchanges from around the US and Canada that collectively monitor over 65% of all commercial vessel activity in the United States. MISNA is actively pursuing efforts on a national level to increase maritime domain awareness through partnering efforts with the USCG.
Historically, the BME has provided its membership with daily reports along with activity updates, notifications and general information via telephone.
As you will see, our website greatly extends the scope of information we currently provide through our traditional arrival/departure and due in reports.
Web reporting services are "real time" and updated as events occur, 24/7, so that our members can get the most recent and accurate synopsis of vessel activity at the Port of Baltimore whenever they log on. Portions of this information can even be accessed from a web-enabled cell phone or PDA. This membership option is especially useful to anyone whose job requires more time on the road and less time in a more traditional office setting. Information about this membership option can be found on our "Membership Information" page.
The goal of our efforts in developing the BME website is to provide accurate real time information to the port community, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
